Zelensky thanks UK for 'ironclad' support after meeting King Charles

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Monday, expressing gratitude for the UK's "ironclad" support during his visit. The meeting followed talks with Ukraine's European allies in London.

Following their private discussion, Zelensky announced his intention to invite King Charles for a state visit to Ukraine in the future. He also addressed the issue of some UK councils removing Ukrainian flags from town halls, stating, "I hope they will put it back." Zelensky commented on the sensitivity of global politics, noting that "sometimes little, small mistakes can break big friendships or huge contacts."

A spokesperson for Reform UK councils, which made the decision to remove the flags, stated, "It is an entirely reasonable position to support the people of Ukraine in their fight against Russia, whilst also believing that only domestic flags should be flown from public buildings at home."

I don't want to be involved in any political things, but you know, the world is so sensitive today. Sometimes little, small mistakes can break big friendships or huge contacts.

Earlier, Zelensky met with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The leaders issued a joint statement calling for an "immediate and complete ceasefire" and condemning Russia's "large-scale missile and drone attacks" on Ukrainian cities. The E3 group, comprising the UK, France, and Germany, are key allies supporting Ukraine.
