Zelensky: Ukraine Has 'Clear' Intelligence Russia Preparing Military Mobilization

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his intelligence services have received "clear information" indicating Russia is preparing for a substantial new wave of military mobilization this autumn. Zelensky stated that Russia, currently struggling on the front lines, intends to increase attacks and expand the war, requiring more personnel for assaults.

"We have clear information from the intelligence services indicating that Russia is preparing for the fall a new, quite significant wave of mobilization," Zelensky said in his daily address. He added, "Currently, the Russians are losing more soldiers on the front than they are recruiting, but (Vladimir) Putin still intends to increase the number of attacks and expand this war. He needs even more Russians to participate in the assaults."

Zelensky called for a multi-faceted defense strategy against this threat. He urged Ukraine to defend itself "on all levels," including continuing to push on the front lines, launching deep strikes into Russian territory, and engaging diplomatically with all parties interested in peace.

In recent months, Kyiv has significantly slowed the advance of Russian troops and has increased deep strikes on Russian industrial sites and military logistics. This comes after Russia's previous mobilization in September 2022, which incorporated around 300,000 reservists and helped stabilize the front after successful Ukrainian counter-offensives. Following that mandatory mobilization, Russian authorities recruited tens of thousands of additional soldiers on a voluntary basis, offering substantial salaries and benefits to avoid widespread discontent.

Despite these efforts, the Russian army has suffered heavy losses and has not yet fully captured the eastern Donetsk region, which remains its primary objective nearly four and a half years after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
