Zetland co-founder moves to DR's new fact-checking division

Hakon Mosbech, one of the four original founders of the Danish digital media outlet Zetland, has announced his departure from the company he helped establish in 2016. Mosbech revealed on LinkedIn that he will be taking on a new role as head of development for DR Verificerer, a newly formed division within the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR).

His decision to leave Zetland comes after the majority of its shares were sold to the Swedish Bonnier group last year. Mosbech indicated that this ownership change was a contributing factor in his decision to pursue a different path. He expressed pride in Zetland's journalistic achievements, particularly its success in reaching a young audience and its willingness to experiment with innovative approaches to journalism.

DR Verificerer is established as an independent editorial unit within DR's new strategy. Its primary mission will be to fact-check and provide nuanced perspectives on news and images disseminated by DR and other media organizations. Meanwhile, Zetland continues with its remaining co-founders, Jakob Moll and Lea Korsgaard, who remain co-owners and hold executive positions within the company.
