Zheng Chaofang Runs for Hsinchu County Magistrate Before Term Ends; Qiu Chenyuan: Zhubei Needs a Mayor Who Solves Problems

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has nominated Zhubei Mayor Zheng Chaofang to run for Hsinchu County Magistrate, a move that has drawn immediate commentary from rival candidate Qiu Chenyuan. Qiu, who is running for Zhubei mayor under the Taiwan People's Party, expressed respect for other parties nominating candidates but raised concerns about Zheng's departure from his current mayoral term.

The citizens of Zhubei need not empty visions, but people who can turn visions into reality; they need not political stars, but mayors who can solve problems.

Qiu questioned how Zhubei's city administration would continue and whether Zheng's prior commitments to the citizens would be fully realized. He highlighted that Hsinchu County and City form a critical technological hub for Taiwan, sharing intertwined issues in transportation, industry, education, and social welfare that transcend administrative boundaries. Therefore, Qiu argued, the next county and city leaders must prioritize regional governance and collaborative progress over partisan politics.
