Zinedine Zidane appointed France coach, to debut against Turkey

Zinedine Zidane has officially taken the helm of the French National Team, with the French Football Federation announcing his appointment as head coach. This move comes after the conclusion of Didier Deschamps' tenure following the 2026 World Cup.

For a long time, my only goal has been to coach the French National Team.

Zidane, who has signed a four-year contract, stated at a press conference that managing the French national team has always been his ultimate goal. He congratulated Deschamps on his past achievements and expressed his immense happiness at being given the responsibility.

His managerial career has so far been exclusively with Real Madrid, where he achieved significant success across two separate spells. Zidane famously led the Spanish club to three consecutive Champions League titles, a historic feat. He also secured two UEFA Super Cups, two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups during his time with Real Madrid.

Zidane's first official match in charge of Les Bleus will be a challenging encounter against Turkey. The team will host the Turkish national team in the first match of the Nations League A Group on September 25, at the Kocaeli Stadium.
