Ziraat Bankası tops Turkey's corporate tax list as Istanbul leads contributions

Turkey's Revenue Administration (GİB) has released the 2025 corporate tax declaration results, identifying the nation's top taxpayers. A total of 1.2 million taxpayers filed corporate tax returns, declaring 6.97 trillion Turkish lira in profit. This resulted in 1.61 trillion Turkish lira in corporate tax.

Istanbul dominates the tax landscape, with 80 of the top 100 corporate taxpayers based in the city. Ankara follows with 14 companies, while İzmir, Antalya, Konya, Kocaeli, Muğla, and Kastamonu each had one company in the top 100.

Ziraat Bankası secured the top position among the highest corporate taxpayers, with a tax accrual of 70.39 billion Turkish lira. Two other institutions, whose names were not disclosed, ranked second and fifth. Vakıflar Bankası T.A.O. came in third with 22.9 billion Turkish lira, and Garanti Bankası A.Ş. was fourth with 20.07 billion Turkish lira.

Banks significantly influenced the list, with QNB Bank A.Ş., Citibank A.Ş., and Kuveyt Türk Katılım Bankası A.Ş. appearing among the top 20. Retailers like LC Waikiki Mağazacılık Hizmetleri Ticaret A.Ş. and BİM Birleşik Mağazalar A.Ş., along with financial services firms and other industrial companies, also featured in the top 20.

Istanbul's economic power is further underscored by its tax contributions. The city's 437,754 taxpayers represent 36.03% of the national total. They declared 3.98 trillion Turkish lira in profit, accounting for 57.20% of the national total profit. Istanbul's corporate tax accrual reached 977.86 billion Turkish lira, making up 60.51% of the country's total corporate tax revenue. Ankara contributed 221.75 billion Turkish lira in corporate tax from 127,007 taxpayers.
