Zulum endorses Kebbi gov for second term

Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum has publicly endorsed the re-election bid of Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris. Zulum described Idris as a generous, hardworking, and visionary leader possessing the necessary charisma, character, and capacity to govern Kebbi for a full eight-year term.

I knew him during the campaign period of my second term. He is a comrade that I honour and respect. He is also a trusted man who accommodates people with one mind.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by media aides from Kebbi State, led by Commissioner for Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Birnin Kebbi, to Maiduguri. Zulum stated that Idris has demonstrated the essential leadership qualities required to unite the populace and drive development throughout Kebbi State.

He emphasized that leadership demands sacrifice, dedication, courage, and the ability to bridge political, ethnic, and other divides, qualities he believes Governor Idris possesses.

Zulum urged the people of Kebbi to support continuity in governance, arguing that a complete eight-year tenure would enable Governor Idris to solidify his accomplishments. He also commended the current administration for its progress in critical sectors such as security, education, agriculture, healthcare, road infrastructure, and human capital development, noting the shared challenges both states face, particularly in security.

Recalling a visit to Kebbi last year, Zulum expressed his admiration for the state's development pace. He specifically praised investments in education and healthcare, infrastructure projects like a modern state secretariat and central motor park, and empowerment programs for farmers, youth, and the elderly. Zulum further characterized Idris as a leader with "good manners, wisdom and the ability to foster unity among the political class," underscoring the importance of political unity for sustainable development.
