Zverev solidifies Top 3 after maiden Grand Slam win at Roland Garros

Alexander Zverev has cemented his position as world number three after capturing his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. The German star's victory, his first major championship, propels him forward in the rankings, closing the gap on leaders Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Despite Zverev's triumph, Sinner retains the top spot in the men's singles rankings, though he shed 1250 points following his early exit from the French Open. Carlos Alcaraz, the previous year's champion, dropped 2000 points due to injury and his second-round elimination, allowing Zverev to significantly narrow the points difference. Zverev himself gained 1600 points, bringing his total to 7305.

The rankings also saw notable movements within the Top 10. Felix Auger-Aliassime climbed to a career-high world number four after reaching the quarterfinals in Paris. Italian player Flavio Cobolli made a significant leap, rising four places from 14th to enter the Top 10 at number 10 following his runner-up finish in the final.

Further down the rankings, several Italian players experienced substantial gains. Matteo Arnaldi, a semifinalist, surged 70 places from 104th to 34th. Matteo Berrettini also recovered ground, climbing 57 spots from 105th to 48th. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic experienced a notable drop, falling three places to seventh in the rankings after a disappointing performance at Roland Garros, where his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title ended in the third round.
