10 Dead, 10 Injured in Highway Pile-up After Truck Hits Responders

A devastating multi-vehicle accident on the Guadalajara-Tepic highway has claimed the lives of 10 people and left another 10 injured. The tragedy unfolded near the Plan de Barrancas toll booth in Magdalena, Jalisco, when a truck lost control and plowed into emergency personnel and vehicles attending an earlier crash.

The initial incident involved a collision between two cargo trucks. As authorities and highway personnel worked to clear the scene, a third tractocamión, reportedly suffering brake failure, veered off course. It struck the truck being removed, triggering a massive pile-up that engulfed four other cars and a National Guard patrol vehicle.

One of the trucks involved in the secondary collision caught fire, with the flames spreading rapidly to another truck and three of the cars. Firefighters and emergency crews from Nayarit responded to combat the blaze and attend to the injured, who were transported to hospitals in Tepic and Guadalajara. The deceased were discovered among the wreckage of the burned vehicles.
