13 Men Plead Not Guilty to Indecent Dressing, Behaving Like Women Charges in Malaysia

Thirteen men have pleaded not guilty in the Temerloh Syariah Lower Court to charges of behaving like women and dressing indecently in public. The alleged offenses occurred in January 2025. The court heard the charges under Sections 33 and 53 of the Pahang Syariah Criminal Offenses Enactment. The prosecution was handled by Syarie Prosecutor Busu Firdaus Abu Bakar, while the 13 defendants were represented by lawyer Muhammad Syarafi Mohd. Salleh, assisted by Muhammad Nur Helmi Abdul Hamid.

The court set September 22 as the trial date after all defendants pleaded not guilty and opted for a trial. The court granted bail to all 13 individuals, ranging from RM500 to RM700 each, with one surety. The case originated from an enforcement operation conducted in a premises in the Garden Hill area, Taman Perindustrian Mentakab, on the night of January 12 to the early morning of January 13, 2025.

Lawyer Muhammad Syarafi stated that after the investigation was completed and the case file submitted to the prosecution, the authority to charge was obtained. If found guilty, the accused could face penalties under Sections 33 and 53 of the Pahang Syariah Criminal Offenses Enactment, including fines, imprisonment for up to two years, or both, depending on the court's decision.
