13 unaccounted for after 163 Kwara abductees rescued - Community leader

Security forces in Nigeria have successfully rescued 163 individuals abducted in Kwara State. The operation, which also freed 145 people kidnapped from neighboring Niger State, took place in the Kainji Lake National Park forest. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced the positive development on Thursday.

Despite the significant success in freeing the majority of the captives, 13 individuals are still unaccounted for. The exact circumstances of their disappearance and their current whereabouts remain unclear, adding a somber note to the otherwise successful operation. The focus now shifts to locating the remaining missing persons.

The rescue highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, with multiple states experiencing kidnappings for ransom. The Kainji Lake National Park, a vast protected area, has unfortunately become a hiding place for criminal elements involved in these abductions.
