15 Die in accident at Peki-Tsame

Fifteen people died instantly when a container truck and a passenger bus collided head-on in the Volta Region of Ghana. The tragic accident occurred early yesterday morning near the Peki Senior High School in Peki-Tsame.

The crash involved a Mercedes-Benz container truck traveling from Nkwanta to Accra and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus en route from Battor to Kabiti. The deceased include nine males and six females. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.

According to the Ho Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) I, Hope Bedzra, a total of 40 people were involved in the incident. Through a coordinated rescue operation, emergency services were able to save 25 individuals – 23 adults and two children – who sustained multiple injuries. These survivors were transported to the Peki Government Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police for further procedures.

The Fire Service extended its condolences to the bereaved families and issued a strong advisory to motorists. They urged drivers to adhere to road traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving, and exercise maximum caution to help prevent future accidents and preserve lives.
