15 Killed in Pakistan Suicide Attack; Qatar Condemns Bombing

Fifteen people, including twelve military personnel, lost their lives in a devastating terrorist attack on a joint security checkpoint in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province early Friday. The assault, which occurred in the Tank district, also claimed the lives of two police officers and a former forest department official.

The State of Qatar expresses condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted police officers in Northwestern Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.

Qatar issued a strong condemnation of the attack on Saturday, expressing its firm opposition to violence and terrorism. In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the nation's stance against "violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of their motives or causes." Qatar extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Pakistan, wishing a swift recovery to the injured.

According to a statement from Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attack began when terrorists attempted to breach the checkpoint's perimeter. Security forces reportedly foiled the initial breach attempt, eliminating twelve attackers. However, the militants then rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the checkpoint's perimeter wall, causing a significant blast that damaged the infrastructure and resulted in the fatalities.

Due to [the] blast impact, infrastructure at [the] checkpost was seriously damaged; resultantly, 15 brave sons of [the] soil, including 12 military, two policemen and a government official ex forest department, rendered the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat (martyrdom).

Pakistani authorities identified the group responsible as Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The ISPR stated that a sanitization operation is underway to apprehend any remaining militants in the vicinity. The military reaffirmed its commitment to a "relentless counter-terrorism campaign" to eradicate terrorism, emphasizing that these sacrifices strengthen their resolve to protect the nation.
