15-Year-Old Among 13 Detained in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case

Authorities in Johor have apprehended 13 individuals, including a 15-year-old girl, in connection with a fatal incident that occurred on August 25 in Kulai. The victim, a 17-year-old who was not attending school, died after the vehicle he was traveling in was involved in a collision.

Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab. Rahaman Arsad stated that the incident is believed to stem from a dispute between two secret society groups in the area. The victim and four friends were in a Perodua Myvi when they were pursued by several vehicles. One of the pursuing vehicles rammed their car, causing it to skid and the victim to be ejected, subsequently being run over by a Toyota Vellfire.

Following the arrests, which took place over three days in Johor and Selangor, the suspects were remanded for investigation under Sections 302 and 148 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police investigations revealed that some suspects have prior criminal records, but all tested negative for drug abuse.

During the operation, police confiscated 12 mobile phones, three vehicles (a Kia Forte, Toyota Vellfire, and Toyota Hilux), a baseball bat, and a baton. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify any other individuals involved in the case.
