15-year-old Gülseren, missing in Kızılırmak River, found dead

Tragedy struck the Kızılırmak River in Turkey's Gemerek district when three sisters were swept away by strong currents while washing clothes. The incident occurred on July 2, around noon, near Burhan village. The sisters, identified as Gülistan (20), Zerda (13), and Gülseren Şahin, were seasonal workers who had come to the village with their families.

Bystanders managed to rescue Gülistan, the eldest sister, but Zerda, 13, was found deceased shortly after by rescue teams. The search for Gülseren, 15, continued for several days. Her body was eventually discovered on July 6, approximately 4 kilometers downstream from the site of the accident, near Horuk Mahallesi.

Emergency services, including AFAD and specialized diving police units from Kayseri, were dispatched to the scene. Following the discovery of Gülseren's body, an investigation into the incident has been launched. The bodies were taken to the district state hospital morgue after initial examinations.
