Ankara Governorship addresses claims of poisoned NATO Summit staff

Allegations circulated on social media claiming that security personnel assigned to the NATO Summit in Ankara were poisoned by their food rations. The claims suggested a serious health incident among those working to secure the event.

In response to the online reports, the Ankara Governorship issued a statement to provide accurate information. The statement confirmed that four personnel reported feeling unwell after consuming the provided rations on July 5, 2026. As a precautionary measure, these individuals were transported to a hospital for examination.

Subsequent medical evaluations, including examinations, tests, and blood analyses, were conducted. The Governorship reported that these assessments revealed no evidence of food poisoning among the personnel. Their general health status was determined to be good, and they were not found to be suffering from any foodborne illness.

The Governorship also emphasized that the food rations distributed to personnel undergo rigorous food safety and hygiene inspections. These checks are carried out meticulously from the preparation stage, in coordination with the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate.

Yapılan muayene, tetkik ve kan tahlilleri sonucunda personelimizde gıda kaynaklı zehirlenme bulgusuna rastlanmamış; genel sağlık durumlarının iyi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Personele dağıtılan kumanyaların gıda güvenliği ve hijyen denetimleri, hazırlanma sürecinden itibaren Ankara İl Tarım ve Orman Müdürlüğü ile Ankara İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü koordinasyonunda titizlikle yürütülmektedir.
