‘176,000 Nigerians visited Ghana in 2025’

Ghana has identified Nigeria as its second-largest source of international visitors, with over 176,000 Nigerians visiting the country in 2025. This figure places Nigeria just behind the United States in terms of tourist numbers.

Nigeria, our big brothers, remains one of Ghana’s most important tourism markets.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mr. Yussif Jajah, shared these statistics at an executive dinner honoring the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies. He described Nigeria as a crucial partner for Ghana's tourism sector, stressing that continued collaboration is vital for increasing visitor numbers and fostering regional integration.

Ghana's 2025 Tourism Report indicates that the nation received more than 1.3 million international arrivals. Jajah noted that while the US led the numbers, Nigeria's significant contribution underscores the strong people-to-people connections between the two nations. He expressed a desire for Ghanaians to also visit Nigeria, fostering synergy between the two countries.

Out of that 1.3m, America is the first international arrival, and our big brother Nigeria is the second largest with over 176,000 international arrivals from Nigeria in the year 2025.

Dr. Yinka Folami, President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, remarked on the enduring relationship between Ghana and Nigeria, linking it to the ideals of Pan-Africanism. He urged Africans to promote intra-continental travel, emphasizing that despite administrative borders, the continent remains one entity. The association, celebrating its 50th anniversary, boasts over 4,000 members across Nigeria.
