19 candidates to contest Sokoto governor seat in 2027

The race for the Sokoto State governorship in 2027 is shaping up to be a crowded contest, with the Independent National Electoral Commission listing 19 candidates. The list, displayed at the commission's state office, includes contenders from a wide array of political parties, signaling a broad political engagement across the state.

Among the notable figures is the incumbent governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC). His presence ensures a high-profile incumbent seeking re-election. The diverse field also features candidates from parties such as the Action Alliance, Social Democratic Party, Labour Party, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, among others.
