19-Year-Old Driver Flees Police, Runs Red Light and Drives on Sidewalk

Authorities in Limburg are investigating a 19-year-old driver who engaged police in a dangerous pursuit, culminating in him driving onto a sidewalk and disregarding a red traffic signal.

The incident began Friday evening when patrol officers noticed the driver performing "drifting maneuvers." When signaled to stop, the driver accelerated instead of complying. He then used his high beams to force other vehicles to yield and proceeded to overtake them by driving on the sidewalk.

Adding to the reckless behavior, the driver ran a red light before continuing onto the A3 highway. There, he again used the shoulder lane to pass vehicles. Due to the extreme risks involved, police temporarily halted the pursuit.

However, subsequent investigations allowed authorities to identify the driver and the vehicle. The car, the driver's mobile phone, and his driver's license have been confiscated. He is now facing charges for illegal motor vehicle racing, endangering road traffic, and coercion in road traffic.
