200 business graduates from BSP Thrive program

Bank South Pacific (BSP) Fiji's Thrive business development program has successfully graduated its 200th entrepreneur, marking a significant milestone since its inception in 2023. The program recently concluded its latest cohort in Sigatoka, empowering 27 local entrepreneurs across diverse sectors including tourism, hospitality, retail, agribusiness, manufacturing, handicrafts, bakery, and sawmilling.

Maikash Ali, BSP Relieving Country Head, highlighted the program's role in BSP's commitment to fostering success by empowering local entrepreneurs and supporting inclusive economic growth. He noted the collaboration with partner Australian Business Volunteers (ABV) in supporting resilient entrepreneurs who are actively addressing challenges, creating opportunities, and stimulating economic activity within their communities.

Ali also pointed out that the recent cohort included 17 women-owned businesses, underscoring BSP's dedication to building a more inclusive and dynamic business environment. This focus aligns with the program's broader goal of economic empowerment and community development.

Ravi Chand, ABV Fiji Senior Program Manager, attributed the program's success to practical, hands-on mentoring and the cultivation of lasting professional relationships. He explained that skilled business professionals collaborate closely with entrepreneurs, offering tailored advice and practical experience to overcome real-world business obstacles. Participants emerge from the program equipped with enhanced business acumen, increased confidence, and valuable networks that extend beyond the workshops.

The Thrive program combines one-on-one mentoring, interactive workshops, and ongoing coaching to help entrepreneurs refine business planning, financial management, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. Following the Sigatoka completion, the program is set to resume in Suva with a new cohort preparing to embark on their business development journey.
