In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor clarified that the state government is "not at loggerheads" with the assembly members. Nzeshi emphasized Fubara's commitment to working harmoniously with the legislators in the best interest of the people of Rivers State. The 2026 budget proposal has already been submitted to the House of Assembly and is currently progressing through the standard legislative procedures.

This clarification comes amid lingering political tensions within Rivers State, which have previously led to disputes between the executive and legislative branches. Governor Fubara appealed to all stakeholders to refrain from actions that could reignite controversy, recalling the state's difficult past experiences.
