2026 Kaohsiung Hakka Wedding Opens for Registration, Promising a Unique Cultural Experience

The Kaohsiung Hakka Affairs Commission is inviting unmarried couples to register for the 2026 Kaohsiung Hakka Wedding. The event, open until September 10, offers a unique "cultural wedding" experience that merges traditional Hakka customs with contemporary design and immersive elements. Early applicants who register and are accepted before August 10 will receive an additional 1,000 yuan in gift money.

Participants will don blue-dyed "lanshan" gowns, a blend of Hakka elements and modern aesthetics, for a ceremony designed to celebrate the meaning of "starting a family." The commission hopes this event will encourage younger generations to reconnect with Hakka culture and create lasting memories.

Beyond the cultural immersion, the wedding package includes a banquet table for guests, 5,000 yuan in cash vouchers, a marriage certificate, and wedding favors. The commission emphasizes that the event is open to all unmarried individuals aged 18 and above, regardless of gender identity, registered residency, or nationality, aiming for inclusivity.

Applications can be submitted online or in person. The commission seeks to create a memorable life ritual that showcases the richness of Hakka traditions while embracing modern sensibilities.
