2027: APC Disowns Hunye, Insists Yayi Remains Ogun Guber Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially distanced itself from Mr. Abayomi Hunye, who has made a self-declaration as the party's candidate for the Ogun State governorship election in 2027. The party's National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, unequivocally labeled Hunye's claim as false, unauthorized, and mischievous, aimed at misleading the public.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), hereby informs the general public stakeholders, Ogun State chapter and the good people of Ogun State that Mr. Abayomi Hunye is an impostor who is currently on suspension as a member of APC.

Basiru emphasized that Hunye is not a member in good standing, having been suspended from the APC on April 7, 2026. This suspension, he explained, originated from his ward, Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area, and was ratified by the local government executives and the Ogun State Working Committee. The reasons cited for his suspension included engaging in activities detrimental to the party's image and deliberately fostering disaffection among loyal members.

His recent self-declaration as the governorship candidate of our great party for the 2027 election is completely false, unauthorised, and a mischievous act aimed at misleading the public.

Consequently, the APC asserts that Hunye possesses neither the legal nor the moral authority to represent the party in any capacity. The party reiterated that Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, with Balogun Kudirat Abiodun as his running mate, is the duly nominated and elected governorship candidate following a valid primary election. Their names and particulars have been officially uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, with acknowledgement slips confirming their status.

For the avoidance o f doubt, Mr. Abayomi Hunye is not a member of the APC in good standing. He was suspended from the party on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward, Tube Ward, in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

The party issued a stern warning, stating that any individual, group, or organization engaging in political dealings with Hunye under the pretense of representing the APC does so at their own peril. The APC will not accept liability for any financial losses, legal disputes, or criminal charges that might arise from such associations.

We reiterate that following the validly conducted primary election of the APC, the duly nominated and elected governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election is Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan with his running mate being Balogun Kudirat Abiodun.
