2027: Bamidele vows to deliver 10m S’West votes for Tinubu’s re-election

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has pledged to mobilize at least 10 million votes from Nigeria's South-West geopolitical zone for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027. Bamidele made this commitment following Tinubu's landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary.

In my capacity as the Leader of the Senate, I assure you of at least 10 million votes from the South-West geopolitical zone of the country. The machinery to deliver those votes is already in motion.

Bamidele expressed strong confidence in the APC's prospects for 2027, assuring that the machinery to deliver the promised votes is already in motion. He stated that Tinubu's candidacy will further consolidate ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria's economy and infrastructure. Bamidele praised Tinubu's decisiveness in implementing tough economic policies upon assuming office during a challenging economic period, asserting that this has sparked progress across national life and ended the practice of states borrowing solely to pay salaries.

The Senate Leader also pointed to significant infrastructure projects, including the 750-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 1,068-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry Highway, as strategic initiatives to boost national connectivity and economic growth. In the education sector, he cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, noting over 1.1 million student registrations and disbursements totaling approximately N242 billion. Bamidele further claimed that Nigeria's crude oil production rose from 1.273 million barrels per day in April 2023 to 1.71 million barrels per day in May 2026, and foreign reserves increased from $35.09 billion in June 2023 to $49.49 billion in May 2026, indicating steady economic growth.
