2027 Elections: Labour Party receives INEC access code

Nigeria's Labour Party confirmed it has received the access code from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload candidate details for the 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly elections. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, stated that the upload process began on Saturday and is proceeding smoothly.

The Labour Party can confirm that INEC has provided the party with the access code required to upload its governorship and House of Assembly candidates to the INEC nomination portal.

As of Monday morning, a significant number of candidate details had been uploaded, with ongoing efforts to complete the exercise within INEC's provided timeline. Asogwa noted that earlier challenges faced by parties during the upload of presidential and National Assembly candidates were primarily due to technical issues with harmonizing names on party lists with INEC's portal records.

The upload exercise commenced on Saturday and has been progressing seamlessly. As of this morning, we have uploaded a substantial number.

He assured that the Labour Party is committed to complying with the electoral commission's requirements and meeting all stipulated deadlines across the states. The party did not disclose specific states or names of candidates whose details have been uploaded.

A lot of political parties experienced difficulties during the upload of the particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates. It was not peculiar to Labour Party, as many parties faced the challenge due to the initial difficulty in harmonizing names on parties’ lists with those on the INEC portal.
