2027: I’m supporting Wike-led Rainbow Coalition, says Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly declared his allegiance to the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance spearheaded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. This declaration signifies a reconciliation between the two political figures after a period of intense political crisis that had polarized the state.

We have made peace in the state. And I am supporting our rainbow party, or rainbow coalition.

During a project groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Fubara urged his supporters to fully embrace the coalition, stating, "I am supporting our rainbow party, or rainbow coalition." He also extended his endorsement to President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term and named Kingsley Chinda as his preferred candidate for the governorship. Fubara emphasized that those who follow him should support all candidates under the Rainbow Coalition banner.

"For those of you who are saying, ‘Fubara, let’s stay, we want to collect something before we run,’ there is nothing to collect. I am already in the family. I’ve gone back to our family," the governor stated, encouraging a unified front. He stressed that the "time of war is over; it’s time of peace," signaling a new phase for the state.

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is our president, and he’s the one we are supporting.

Fubara cautioned his loyalists against engaging in political activities outside the coalition or using his name to promote disunity. "No, no, no. My position is this, and I’ve said it here clearly for everyone to hear," he asserted, emphasizing his commitment to peace and progress in Rivers State. This move comes after Fubara withdrew from the All Progressives Congress's primaries in May 2026, following his reconciliation with Wike's political camp.
