2027: Kaduna gov names running mate for governorship election

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has officially named Jerry Adams, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. Governor Sani announced the nomination in a statement, characterizing the choice as a reaffirmation of his administration's core values: inclusion, equity, and good governance.

According to Sani, the selection of Adams transcends the typical choice of a deputy governorship candidate. He views it as a reinforcement of his administration's overarching vision to foster a united, peaceful, and inclusive Kaduna State. The governor emphasized that his administration, since taking office on May 29, 2023, has been guided by principles of justice, fairness, and merit.

This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging.

Governor Sani underscored the importance of Kaduna's diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural landscape, asserting that this diversity should be embraced as a strength rather than a source of division. He drew upon historical lessons, noting the high cost of division and mistrust, while also highlighting the achievements possible when dialogue, inclusion, and justice prevail.

Over the past three years, Sani's administration has prioritized equitable development across the state's 23 local government areas, investing in sectors such as roads, education, healthcare, agriculture, and water supply. The governor also credited improved security for enabling farmers to return to their land and attracting further investment. Adams, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the National Institute of Management, was praised for transforming the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service through innovation and professionalism.
