2027: NDC, Obidients tackle Ganduje over Obi, Kwankwaso ticket

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Obidient Movement have strongly dismissed assertions by former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje regarding the presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. Ganduje had claimed the ticket, running under the NDC, lacked the political legacy to succeed in the 2027 election.

I think Ganduje is just blabbing. But we in NDC believe that when we get to the bridge, we shall cross it. And we also believe that politics is about proof of your popularity.

In response, the NDC and Obidient Movement insisted that both Obi and Kwankwaso have proven track records in governance and command significant political support across Nigeria, especially in Kano State. Ganduje had previously characterized the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as "dead on arrival," questioning their leadership capabilities and their ability to garner support in Kano, while also casting doubt on Obi's achievements as Anambra State governor and Kwankwaso's political history in Kano.

Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, dismissed Ganduje's comments as irrelevant in a phone interview. He stated that Ganduje has lost political relevance in Kano and has been sidelined within his own party. Abdulsalam expressed confidence in the NDC's ability to win elections in Kano, citing Kwankwaso's considerable influence in the state.

Ganduje, as of today, is no longer popular in Kano. In fact, in his own party, he has been technically sidelined and has started losing ground in the ruling party.

He added that the NDC is prepared to win any election in Kano, emphasizing that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is a formidable force in the state. Abdulsalam reminded that Ganduje served as Kwankwaso's deputy, highlighting Kwankwaso's instrumental role in Ganduje's governorship.

So no child can claim to be a bigger father than his father. No matter how highly educated and highly connected, he cannot have the wisdom of that father.

Abdulsalam further argued that Ganduje's claims of being wiser than Kwankwaso were merely for public show and lacked seriousness. He stated that the NDC is not interested in trading words but is focused on demonstrating its strength and winning elections in Kano through effective organization. The NDC official also touched upon Obi's electoral performance, suggesting it was a factor in their confidence.

So, if Ganduje is now claiming to be wiser than Kwankwaso, I think he is just playing to the gallery. He is not being serious as a politician.
