APC Uploads 13 Gov Candidates, Faces Portal Glitches Ahead of Deadline

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is actively working to meet the August 8 deadline for candidate nominations, having successfully uploaded the details of 13 governorship candidates onto the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) portal. However, the party faces technical challenges with the INEC portal, which have stalled the upload of candidates for the State Houses of Assembly.

So far, the party has uploaded the details of 13 governorship candidates, while the documents of five others are being processed by the ICT department.

A high-ranking APC source, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the party's ICT department is processing the nomination documents. While 13 governorship candidates' details are complete, five more are currently being processed. The APC aims to finalize the upload for all 28 governorship candidates and their running mates before the INEC deadline.

We are confident of completing the upload of all 28 candidates and their deputies before the August 8 INEC deadline.

In parallel, the APC is engaged in reconciliation efforts to address grievances stemming from the candidate emergence process for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Bala Ibrahim, the APC Director of Publicity, assured that these efforts would help smooth over any internal disputes.

The uploading of state House of Assembly candidates’ details is yet to begin due to technical challenges with the INEC portal.

The timeline provided by INEC shows that the submission of nomination forms for governorship and state Houses of Assembly candidates began on July 18 and will conclude on August 8. INEC is scheduled to publish the personal particulars of these candidates on August 29. The deadline for withdrawal or substitution of candidates for these positions is September 19.
