2027: Tinubu, APC will be defeated massively in free, fair contest, Dickson

Senator Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is confident that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will face a "massive" defeat in the 2027 general elections, provided the polls are conducted freely and fairly. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunday Politics, Dickson asserted that widespread dissatisfaction with the current APC administration would lead to the party's electoral downfall.

The former Bayelsa State governor also indicated that the NDC is open to discussions with other opposition parties to form alliances before the 2027 elections. While expressing hope that any eventual coalition would support NDC candidates, Dickson acknowledged that it is too early to predict the outcome of such talks. "As an opposition leader, our party, the NDC, will be open to conversations within that space," he said. "We hope that whatever discussions take place will lead to the NDC candidates being backed because we know the value of the candidates we are putting forward."

Dickson also dismissed a lawsuit seeking the deregistration of the NDC as "frivolous" and politically motivated. He maintained that the legal challenge would not hinder the party's participation in future elections, expressing confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary. He further rejected claims challenging the NDC's logo, arguing that the internationally recognized peace sign cannot be exclusively owned by any individual or organization.
