2030 World Cup to be played in six countries across three continents

The 2030 FIFA World Cup is set to be a historic celebration, marking the tournament's centenary by being hosted across six nations: Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. This unprecedented multi-continental event will unfold across 18 cities and utilize 21 stadiums, signifying a new era of global collaboration in football.

The tournament's kickoff is scheduled following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez has suggested that the 2030 edition could feature an expanded format of 64 teams. He views this as a unique opportunity to broaden football's reach and foster global integration.

"The next one is played at home! In 2030 the World Cup of Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay is coming. A great opportunity for football, to celebrate the Centenary of the World Cup with a competition with 64 teams," Domínguez posted on X, emphasizing the significance of the event for South American football.

I believe it is a great opportunity to do something that integrates the world, that we make football reach more people and that we can have a completely different party." He stressed that such a decision should be open to global debate, not confined to a small group.

The host cities and stadiums have been outlined, with Spain featuring Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Las Palmas, and San Sebastián. Morocco will host matches in Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, Rabat, and Agadir. Portugal's venues include Lisbon and Porto. Argentina's sole host city is Buenos Aires, Uruguay's is Montevideo, and Paraguay's is Asunción.
