21-year-old woman killed in Strathcona County rollover

RCMP are investigating a fatal rollover that occurred early Thursday morning in Strathcona County, Alberta, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old woman. The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Township Road 524 and Range Road 214, approximately 20 kilometers east of Sherwood Park. Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident involving an SUV carrying four occupants. Authorities believe the vehicle lost control on the gravel road, causing it to roll into a swampy ditch where it came to rest upright in the water. Three individuals, a 21-year-old female driver, another 21-year-old female passenger, and a male under 18, were able to exit the vehicle independently. However, they informed first responders that a fourth person remained missing inside. Emergency services located the 21-year-old victim trapped beneath the submerged vehicle. She sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The RCMP extended their condolences to the families and friends of all those involved in the tragic incident.
