22-Year-Old Drowns After Falling Into River During Family Outing in Van

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 22-year-old man in Van's Bahçesaray district. The young man, identified as E.T., was walking with his family in the Cevizlibelen neighborhood when he lost his footing and fell into a river.

The fall triggered an immediate response from local authorities. Gendarmerie, health personnel, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene following reports from bystanders. Their search efforts focused on locating the young man downstream from where he fell.

After an extensive search, rescue teams found E.T. approximately 300 meters from the site of his fall. He was recovered from the water and rushed to Bahçesaray State Hospital. Despite all efforts and medical interventions, he could not be revived and was pronounced deceased.
