22-year-old man sentenced to 10 years for robbery in Kumasi

Christian Owusu, a 22-year-old man, has received a sentence of at least 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for a robbery committed in Kumasi. The Ashanti Central District Police Command successfully prosecuted Owusu, leading to his conviction and sentencing on August 14, 2026.

The incident occurred on July 21, 2026, when the victim was en route to Konkromase Township. According to police reports, Owusu threatened the victim and stole her handbag, which contained cash and personal items.

Following an investigation, police arrested Owusu on August 4, 2026. He was brought before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on August 7, where he faced a charge of robbery. Owusu entered a guilty plea to the charge.

Before the sentence was passed, Owusu appealed for forgiveness. However, the court proceeded to impose the minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment with hard labor. Owusu has since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to commence serving his sentence.
