23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival opens with 'Swan Lake'

The 23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival has commenced in Turkey's Bodrum district, launching its season with a performance of the iconic ballet "Swan Lake." The festival, a significant cultural event, is organized by the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet (DOB).

The opening night's performance of "Swan Lake," set to the timeless music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, was staged at the historic Bodrum Castle's North Moat. The İzmir State Opera and Ballet presented the renowned masterpiece, drawing a large audience of art enthusiasts who appreciated the artists' performances against the backdrop of the ancient castle.

Attendees included Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı, DOB General Manager and Acting General Art Director Barış Salcan, and Bodrum Municipality Coordinator Emel Çakaloğlu, among many other art lovers. The festival also took a moment to commemorate Almula Özlem, the chief choreographer of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet, who passed away at the age of 46 two years prior.

The festival is scheduled to continue until August 17, featuring a selection of distinguished works. "Swan Lake" will have its second performance on the following day, ensuring the continuation of the cultural celebration in Bodrum.
