25-pound gas: Cylinder supply reaches 95% in stores, according to Acodeco

Panama's Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition (Acodeco) announced that 95% of retail stores nationwide now have 25-pound liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders available, indicating a normalization of supply. Reports from the two bottling companies operating in the country confirm that most convenience stores, mini-supers, and authorized establishments have received their stock.

Despite the widespread availability, Acodeco noted that recent high demand might lead to temporary stockouts at some businesses before new deliveries arrive. The agency advises consumers to verify availability at nearby establishments or go directly to the bottling companies' distribution centers, where the 25-pound cylinders remain available for purchase.

Ramón Abadi Balid, Administrator of Acodeco, reiterated that official reports show 95% availability in retail outlets. He urged consumers to report any irregularities, such as prices exceeding the official rate, tampered safety seals, or any other practices infringing on consumer rights. During inspections, Acodeco ensures that stores display prices clearly, adhere to the subsidized price for the 25-pound cylinder, maintain the safety seal, and sell the product exclusively for domestic use.
