25-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Montevideo's Piedras Blancas Neighborhood

A 25-year-old man was killed Friday in Montevideo after being shot multiple times from a passing car. The incident occurred at the intersection of Azotea de Lima and Matilde Pacheco in the Piedras Blancas neighborhood.

According to reports, the victim, who had no prior criminal record, was walking with a woman when the vehicle approached and opened fire. Eleven shell casings were recovered from the scene. The young man sustained severe injuries and was transported to the Capitán Tula polyclinic, where he died despite medical efforts.

Forensic teams and officials from the Department of Homicides and the Directorate General of Complex Crimes of the National Police were present at the scene. Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area in an attempt to identify the car used in the attack.

This incident follows another fatal shooting in Montevideo just days prior. A 19-year-old man died after being shot in the chest in the Nuevo París neighborhood. Police responded to a vehicle arriving at the Hospital del Cerro carrying the injured youth, who was later transferred to Hospital Maciel, where he succumbed to his wounds. Investigations into that shooting, which occurred near Luis Batlle Berres and Paz Aguirre, are also ongoing, with no suspects yet identified.
