250,000 Euro Damage: Wet Road: Truck Drives 30 Meters Over Guardrail

A truck driver lost control of his vehicle on a rain-slicked autobahn in Germany, resulting in a significant accident that caused an estimated 250,000 euros in damages. The truck veered off the road, smashing through a central guardrail and traveling approximately 30 meters before coming to a halt against a concrete barrier.

The incident occurred on the A4 highway near Wildeck in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district. According to police, the 31-year-old driver was traveling too fast on a downhill section shortly before midnight when the heavily laden vehicle began to swerve. The truck's impact bent the guardrail for about 30 meters.

Police reported that the concrete barrier fortunately stopped the semi-trailer truck, preventing it from entering oncoming traffic. The truck was carrying 15 tons of food, which remained intact despite the crash. The driver escaped the accident without injury.

Authorities temporarily closed the autobahn in the eastbound direction to facilitate the recovery of the truck and its cargo. However, traffic flow was restored early in the morning.
