3 arrested over motorcycle theft in Herat

Herat City, Afghanistan – Authorities have apprehended three suspects in connection with the theft of six motorcycles in the western province of Herat. The arrests were made on Friday during an intelligence-led operation conducted by security personnel from the 7th police district in Herat city, according to the Ministry of Interior.

During preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals confessed to their involvement in the thefts. Their cases have now been forwarded to the relevant judicial authorities for legal proceedings. The ministry stated that the suspects were involved in altering vehicle registration documents and changing the chassis numbers of the stolen motorcycles before attempting to sell them.

In addition to the six motorcycles directly linked to the arrested suspects, security forces also recovered 10 other stolen motorcycles in subsequent operations across different parts of the district. These recovered vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners once ownership is verified and all necessary legal procedures are completed.
