3 KKB Members Killed in Shootout in Yahukimo, Papua

Three members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) were killed in a gun battle with joint security forces in Yahukimo, Papua Pegunungan, on Friday. The clash occurred during a law enforcement operation in the KM 4 Logpon area of Dekai District.

The operation, led by the Damai Cartenz-2026 Task Force in coordination with Polres Yahukimo and Brimob Papua, targeted the KKB unit from Kodap XVI Yahukimo Batalyon Yamue, led by the wanted fugitive Ronal Heluka. The joint forces encountered resistance, prompting them to take "firm and measured" action in accordance with the law.

This operation was carried out based on investigation results and information obtained by officers in the field. All actions were carried out professionally, proportionally, and in accordance with applicable laws. The evidence secured will be an important part of the investigation process to comprehensively uncover the network of the armed group.

According to the head of the Damai Cartenz-2026 Operation, Irjen Faizal Ramadhani, the operation was based on intelligence and investigations into the group's alleged involvement in numerous violent incidents in Yahukimo and surrounding areas since 2022. These incidents include killings, shootings, and arsons.

The three individuals identified as deceased were Roni Rubis, Kumis Passae, and Orgenes Bayage. Security forces secured evidence from the scene, which will be used in further investigations to dismantle the armed group's network. The operation aimed to prevent further violence and ensure public safety.

Based on the follow-up investigation, this group is suspected of using a stopover house in the Logpon area, KM 4, Dekai District, as an activity location. After all information was verified and analyzed, the joint team carried out the operation to prevent armed violence that could threaten public safety.
