3 more terrorists killed in Mastung IBO, taking tally to 13: state media

Security forces in Pakistan's Balochistan province have intensified counterterrorism operations, reporting the killing of three additional terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mastung district. This latest action brings the total number of militants killed in the ongoing 'Operation Al-Azm' to 13, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.

The operation targets groups designated by the government as 'Fitna al-Hindustan,' a term used to implicate India's alleged role in Pakistan's internal security issues. Security sources stated that numerous hideouts belonging to these groups were destroyed, and significant caches of weapons, ammunition, and bomb-making materials were recovered. Radio Pakistan also confirmed that several militants were injured during the operation.

These developments occur amidst a heightened security situation in Balochistan, marked by a spate of significant terrorist attacks earlier this month. Notably, a District and Sessions Judge, Abdul Hakeem Kakar, and his guard were killed in an attack while another judge was injured. This attack followed security forces' actions that led to the killing of three terrorists and the apprehension of suicide bombers and their facilitators in Mastung.

In response to the escalating violence, Balochistan's Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove, has reiterated the government's commitment to dialogue, emphasizing parliament as the primary platform for addressing political concerns. However, the ongoing counterterrorism efforts, including 'Operation Shaban' which reportedly killed 91 terrorists between July 5 and July 16, highlight the persistent challenges in restoring stability to the region.
