5,830 Gontor Putri Alumni Gather for Reunion, Education Values Emphasized

A grand reunion of over 5,830 alumni from Gontor Putri officially opened at the Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) Putri Campus 1 on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The gathering, spanning alumni from 1994 to 2025, is part of the 100th-anniversary commemoration of PMDG and serves as a moment to reinforce alumni's commitment to upholding the values of pesantren education.

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the PMDG Waqf Board, PMDG Leader K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal, Chairman of the 100th Anniversary Committee Prof. Dr. K.H. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, Director of Kulliyyatu-l-Mu'allimin Al-Islamiyyah (KMI) K.H. Masyhudi Subari, and other institutional leaders, guardians, and teachers. Thousands of alumni from various regions were present.

PMDG Leader K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal emphasized the importance of value-oriented education, stating, "The world today educates and moves because of interest, not because of importance. But pesantren educates and moves because of importance. This world is ruined because there is no education." He contrasted this with worldly motivations.

During his address, Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi highlighted the continued need for Gontor alumni to address the challenges in the world of education. "The movement of Gontor alumni is always needed in the world of education in the world today," he remarked. Following the opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the inauguration of an exhibition and bazaar showcasing alumni products, led by Hasan Abdullah Sahal and Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi. They then toured the stalls displaying the diverse achievements of Gontor Putri alumni.

The two-day reunion, July 4-5, 2026, features various activities such as alumni gatherings, product exhibitions, an art show, and talk shows with notable alumni. Organizers view the reunion not just as a social event but as a space for reflection to strengthen the pesantren values instilled during their time at Gontor.
