50-year sentence for trailer driver kidnapper in Puebla; attempted federal cargo theft

A judge has sentenced Juan 'N' to 50 years in prison and imposed a fine of 414,960 pesos for his role in kidnapping and attempting to rob federal cargo truck drivers. The Federal Public Ministry in Puebla presented evidence leading to the conviction for illegal deprivation of liberty and aggravated vehicle theft.

The incident occurred in December 2023 when Juan 'N' and accomplices intercepted two truck drivers on the Amozoc–Perote highway in Puebla. The court heard that the convicted man used physical violence and threats to take control of the cargo units and their drivers.

In one case, the victim was reportedly injured with a sharp object and tied up inside the truck's sleeper cab. The second driver was also immobilized and threatened. Authorities, with assistance from the National Guard, apprehended the suspect. The Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) secured the conviction based on the evidence presented during the oral trial.
