500 women farmers receive GH¢250,000 support in Northern Region

Demeter Ghana has provided a significant boost to agricultural productivity in Ghana's Northern Region with a donation of 5,000 units of Rizoliq Soy Inoculant, valued at GH¢250,000. The support was extended to more than 500 women farmers in Savelugu during the She Grows Conference held at Pong-Tamale.

The gesture formed part of the company’s commitment to supporting farmers with innovative agricultural solutions to improve productivity and enhance food security.

The conference, organized by the Yooyili Pag-Dede Foundation, served as a platform for women from across the district to engage in training, networking, and empowerment activities, with a strong emphasis on agriculture and entrepreneurship. Alexandra Ayirebi Acquah, Marketing Manager at Demeter Ghana, presented the donation, highlighting the company's commitment to equipping farmers with innovative solutions to enhance their yields and contribute to food security.

Mumuni Ayigah, Lead Agronomist for Demeter Ghana in the Northern and Upper North Regions, advised the farmers to adopt best agronomic practices. He explained that Rizoliq Soy Inoculant aids nitrogen fixation in soybean cultivation, thereby improving soil fertility and crop performance.

Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, Founder of the Yooyili Pag-Dede Foundation and Member of Parliament for Savelugu, lauded the donation as a timely intervention that will foster women's economic empowerment and community development. The foundation, whose name translates to "The Backbone of Yooyili," is dedicated to empowering women, children, and persons with disabilities through various avenues, including agriculture, education, and health advocacy. The She Grows Conference is part of broader efforts to promote inclusive development and bolster women-led agriculture in the Northern Region.
