60-year-old Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison on Appeal for Sexually Abusing 3 Elementary Students

A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison on appeal for sexually assaulting three elementary school students. The ruling was delivered by the Criminal Division 1 of the Daejeon High Court's Cheongju branch. The man had appealed his sentence after receiving the same three-year term in the original trial.

The defendant was accused of touching the bodies of three female elementary school students. The incidents took place on June 22, 2024, during a community festival held at an elementary school in Eumseong-gun, North Chungcheong Province. He was apprehended by police at the scene after the victims' parents reported the assaults.

Chief Judge Kim Jin-seok stated the sentencing rationale, emphasizing the vulnerability of the victims. The charges against the man included forced indecent acts against minors under 13 and violations of the Child and Adolescent Protection Act.
