65 Nigerians to return from South Africa Wednesday — FG

The Nigerian government has announced that an additional 65 Nigerian nationals will return from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the repatriation, stating that the returnees are being sponsored by private individuals.

These Nigerians are scheduled to depart from Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30 PM local time aboard a South African Airways flight. They are expected to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 8:45 PM on the same day. This group's return follows closely behind a previous batch of 83 Nigerians who were repatriated last week, also through the sponsorship of public-spirited private citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways.

The repatriations are taking place against a backdrop of recent anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination in South Africa. The Nigerian government has been facilitating the return of its citizens who wish to leave the country.
