66-Year-Old Singer Jiang Nian-ting Finds New Love and Releases AI-Enhanced Music Video

Taiwanese singer Jiang Nian-ting, once known for her hit "Facing the Wind, Facing the Rain" in the 1980s, has experienced a remarkable resurgence in both her career and personal life. After a difficult period marked by an unplanned pregnancy, single motherhood, and taking on her ex-fiancé's debts, Jiang disappeared from the public eye for 30 years. She has since returned to the music scene three years ago, and at 66, feels her dreams are just beginning to take flight.

Jiang has committed to releasing new music annually to connect with her fans. Her latest Taiwanese Hokkien single, "Love You Gui Tuo La Ku," is a sweet and happy tune that mirrors her own journey to finding love. The inspiration for the song came from Jiang's husband, who runs a moving company using a large truck, or "tuo la ku" in Taiwanese Hokkien. This real-life element inspired producer Dong Zi-mu to craft the song. In the music video, Jiang transforms into a wedding singer, spreading joy and blessings of love. The MV's concept was developed early on, with the collaboration solidifying during a duet performance by Jiang and Chen Jie-zhou in mid-May.

Chen Jie-zhou, who has been quietly releasing his own AI-generated music videos, was invited by Dong Zi-mu to create an AI-powered MV for Jiang's new song. Additionally, Taiwanese drama actor Chen Qian-wen made a special appearance in the MV. Chen, who started his career as a singer before finding success in acting, readily accepted the invitation from his former mentor, producer Dong Zi-mu. He humorously noted that having AI portray him in the video saved him from acting in the summer heat, with his only request being that he still looked "handsome."
