8-year-old boy dies after drowning incident in Turkey's Adana

An 8-year-old boy, Mervan Seylan, has died in Adana, Turkey, eight days after being rescued from the Seyhan Dam Lake. The incident occurred on June 28 when Mervan entered the water to cool off while on a picnic with his family.

Tragically, Mervan began struggling in the water and disappeared from sight. His family immediately alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from firefighters, medical teams, and a specialized underwater search and rescue unit from the Police Department.

Underwater police divers located the child shortly after the search began and brought him to the shore. Emergency medical personnel and the divers worked to revive him, performing CPR for several minutes. Their efforts were successful, and Mervan's heart began beating again. He was then rushed to the hospital.

Despite receiving intensive care for eight days, Mervan Seylan passed away on the evening of the eighth day. Following an autopsy at the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute, his body was released to his family for burial.
