97-year-old voter advises Nigerians on elections

At 97, Isaac Adesanmi remains a staunch believer in the power of the ballot box. He cast his vote in the Osun State governorship election, highlighting his long-standing commitment to ensuring good governance in Nigeria.

It is the civic duty of any right-thinking person to cast his ballot during an election, adding that whether you vote or not when a contender emerges winner, he will govern over you.

Adesanmi, a voter since the time of the late Premier of the Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo, was among the elderly voters at the NUD Primary School in Obokun Local Government Area. Despite a slight hiccup with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) failing to capture his biometrics initially, election officials patiently assisted him until he could cast his ballot.

"It is the civic duty of any right-thinking person to cast his ballot during an election," Adesanmi told the News Agency of Nigeria. He stressed that regardless of who wins, that leader will govern everyone. He urged Nigerian youths to vote wisely for a better future and implored the eventual winner to fulfill their campaign promises.

I am 97 years old and I started voting during the time of Awolowo. I always vote whenever an election comes up. I have been voting in Kaduna before I returned home.
