A Big Screen Wherever You Want: What Sets the Latest Projectors Apart

A large home screen no longer has to mean a huge television taking up most of the living-room wall. Epson’s new Lifestudio projectors are designed to move around the home, travel to a country house or terrace, and serve as cinema screens, smart TVs and sound systems in one device.

The portable Lifestudio Pop EF-6x and Lifestudio Flex EF-7x series include Google TV, Sound by Bose and Epson’s 3LCD technology. Both can project images up to 150 inches, or 3.8 metres, across.

The Pop EF-61 and EF-62 are compact models for users who do not want to dedicate a permanent space to a projector. Both offer 700 lumens of brightness. The EF-61 projects in Full HD, while the EF-62 uses 4K PRO-UHD, preserving more fine detail on screens as large as 150 inches.

Moving the projector does not require lengthy manual adjustment each time. Smart instant setup automatically manages focus, image correction and obstacle avoidance. If a picture or another object blocks part of the projection area, the system can help fit the image onto a clear section of wall.

The Pop series also comes in designs intended to suit a room’s interior. The EF-61 is available in white, green and rose quartz, while the 4K PRO-UHD EF-62 comes in metallic black or dark blue.

The Flex EF-71 and EF-72 offer more freedom over where the image appears. Their integrated stands allow the projectors to tilt from minus 15 to plus 90 degrees and rotate sideways through 180 degrees. That means users can project onto a wall, to the side or even onto the ceiling.

The EF-71 provides 700 lumens and Full HD resolution. The EF-72 reaches 1,000 lumens and 4K PRO-UHD, making it better suited to rooms with more ambient light. It also includes adjustable ambient LED lighting, which can change in brightness and color to match the atmosphere, from a calmer setting for a film to brighter lighting for a party.
